Ierapetra is the largest city in the prefecture of Lasithi. Built at the exit of a fertile valley and on the ancient Ierapytna, one of the most important cities of Crete. It has the advantage of being the southernmost city in Europe, just opposite the African coast. A walk along the beachside road in the afternoon to the fort is a “must”.There are also many other sights to visit, such as the mosque the Ottoman fountain, the archaelogical collection and Napoleon's house.
The wider area of Ierapetra is famous for its beaches, stretching along a vast beachfront.
